Painting on commission was something I thought was strange for a long time. Painting has always meant expressing myself, my own thoughts and view of the world, death, life, the universe and everything.
I have certainly always drawn and designed for my own projects, but somewhere along the way I started creating album covers, t-shirts, logos and so on for my friends’ bands. Encouraged by my childhood friend Jimmy, I took it further, became self-employed and got more and more work. Nowadays it is usually completely by hand, drawing, acrylic or oil, but sometimes there is some digital work.
Working as an illustrator Mattias Frisk has made album covers and merchandise for artists all over the world such as the legendary Norwegian black metal band IMMORTAL, the Swedish rock sensation GHOST as well as a number of bands on the international metal scene such as PALLBEARER, BELL WITCH, KRYPTOS , DEAD CONGREGATION, VAMPIRE, REVEL IN FLESH, HORRENDOUS, KRYPTS, SVARTIDAUDI, YEAR OF THE GOAT and DEAD SOUL.
